Introducing Bearing Witness: Healthcare in Gaza

Bearing Witness is a campaign connecting healthcare and healthtech workers in the UK to healthcare and digital health workers on the frontline of humanitarian crisis.

Join us on 13 September for a Lunch & Learn discussing the campaign and how to sign up.

The first phase focuses on Gaza, Palestine and this event will be an informative introduction to the campaign and how to join. We are delighted to be welcoming Medical Aid for Palestinians’ Mohammed Aghaalkurdi who will be giving a presentation on the healthcare system in Gaza and the challenges faced by healthcare workers.

Mohammed Aghaalkurdi is part of MAP’s team in Gaza and is Project Assistant on the Limb Reconstruction project, a medical training programmes with a long history of partnership between UK and Palestinian medics.

This hybrid event will be presented by Dr Hesham Abdalla and John Lodge who will discuss how the campaign works on Hexitime and how to join.

Hesham is a consultant paediatrician and director of medical education and quality improvement. He has over 10 years experience of service improvement seen through the twin lenses of patient and staff experience. John is Head of Quality Improvement (London) at NHS England. He joined the NHS through the Graduate Management Scheme as a veteran from the British Army.

Together, Hesham and John co-founded Hexitime, the first timebanking platform for collaboration to improve Health and Care. This has been nominated for a number of regional and national awards including best digital innovation, best workforce innovation and best not-for-profit organisation working with the NHS.

You can get involved in the campaign via the Hexitime platform by offering an hour of your time to listen, understand and appreciate the story of a healthcare worker on the front line.

The evening will be hosted by Health Foundry's Programmes and Partnerships Lead William Nicolson and will include a discussion with the panel, speakers and some of our other partners and team members including Reem Abu Hayyeh from Medact and Sally Becker from Save a Child.
