Member Feature: Introducing Beanbag Health

The Impact

Eating disorders cases are on the rise and have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder. Unfortunately, treatment is often expensive and skewed towards crisis care, leaving the NHS overwhelmed by demand. Beanbag Health's digital app offers a solution by providing cognitive-behavioral therapy for eating disorders (CBT-ED) in a self-guided or therapist-guided format, making treatment more accessible and effective for mild to moderate eating disorders.

The Journey

Beanbag Health was founded in May 2022 as a part of Zinc VC Venture Builder. Since then, we have received two UK Innovate Grants and are currently a part of the Digital Health Launchpad Accelerator. We are excited to launch our product both direct to consumers and to the NHS in early March of this year.

Meet the Founders

Beanbag Health was founded by Lindsey Depledge, a behavioral scientist with technical product experience, and Simon Tucker, a serial entrepreneur who has advised the NHS on innovation. They both have lived experience of eating disorders, which has fueled their passion to make a difference.

Simon is a serial impact entrepreneur and impact investor who has built multiple social ventures providing services to approximately 500k users. He has also advised the UK's National Health Service on the deployment of GBP 225m investment in innovation and chaired an Integrated Care Partnership. Simon's lived experience of eating disorders gives him a unique perspective on the challenges patients face.

Lindsey is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Beanbag Health. She is a behavioral scientist with experience on technical product teams in health tech and ed tech. Lindsey's expertise in designing engaging products using conversational AI and SaaS tools has helped make Beanbag Health's app user-friendly and effective. She has also led large-scale projects in the United States, engaging over 10 million Americans for health and educational behavior change. As a Gen Z founder with lived experience of eating disorders, she is passionate about creating social impact and helping those struggling with eating disorders.

Beanbag Health is a company committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with eating disorders. We are thrilled to welcome them to our community and look forward to seeing the impact their innovative digital app will make.

Lindsey will feature on the panel in our upcoming event Celebrating Women's History Month: Voices of Women in Health Tech
